Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: I’ve never heard of this before, is it big?
- A: We’re no Crescent City Classic, but you won’t be alone as of riiiiiight NOW, we have over 2,500 people registered (07/29/09). We had over 2,000 people last year.
- Q: Do I have to wear a Red Dress?
- A: You must wear a Red Dress in order to participate.
- Q: Is this a run for gay men only?
- A: We’d assume some of them are, but you can tell by looking that most of these guys DO NOT know how to accessorize. The run is open to men and women, straight and gay. No non-humans please.
- Q: Is this some elaborate scheme to make me wear a red dress in public?
- A: Perhaps. However, the main ‘scheme’ is to have a really fun event with crazy costumes and people. If we make any extra money on the event, we will give it away to various charitable organizations.
- Q: What if I’m not a runner?
- A: Are you a drinker? You’re welcome to join us. Actually even if you don’t drink you’re welcome to join us. We just don’t see the point. The crowd is a mix of die hard runners … and typical New Orleanians.
- Q: Can I get a discount because my best friend’s cousin’s roommate’s Aunt Helen used to teach one of you in second grade?
- A: No.
- A: No.
- Q: Will there be enough food and drink to go around?
- A: We plan for a lot more people than we have registered a week before the run. If too many people wait to register on the day of the run, there will be less to go around. So, encourage your friends to register early. When you get to a stop on the run, there is not only beer outside in trucks, but there are paid for kegs in designated bars as well. Water, snacks and food are also available.
- Q: I don’t drink beer. Is this the only alcohol provided?
- A: Rumor is that there will definitely be jello shots at one of the ending stops. Unfortunately, our club is all about beer. Every stop of the route, including Ernst Café will be serving liquor drinks and shots but you are on your own to buy them. Now, can I stop you from slipping a carefully hidden flask with your alcohol of choice into your garter belt? Absolutely not. ;-)
- Q: Am I registered? I didn’t get a receipt.
- A: Check your email for emails from PayPal. If you have a PayPal account, look on PayPal.com. If all else fails check your credit card or bank account to see that you have a deduction. We’ve emailed anyone we had trouble with. All you need to bring with you on the day of the run is a photo id with your age on it. -oh! -and a Red Dress of course.
- Q: Can’t I just come down there in a red dress and participate without registering? I’ve done it before.
- A: We’re a little bigger now. We have security, volunteers and the New Orleans Police Department on site to look for cheaters. Besides, did we mention it’s for charity?
- Q: Can I pick up my friend’s registration at the Expo?
- A: Unfortunately everyone needs to hand in their own waiver with a picture ID when they check-in, whether it’s Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
